About
A Little About Me
Hello. I am a lifelong educator. I have over two decades of experience teaching Social Studies in every grade 6-12. I grew up in a small community in South Central Indiana but have taught in very small rural schools, mid-size suburban schools, and large schools in inner city Indianapolis.
My art teacher wife and two awesome kids relocated with me from Indiana to Vermont in the summer of 2025.
I was a Scout as a youth, earning my Eagle Rank. I have been a Cubmaster and Scoutmaster for the last decade or so. I have served as both a Camp Counselor and the Program Director of a Residential Summer Scout Camp Program in the past. My family are also active in Scouting. We started a new Troop and Cub Pack for the Enosburg Community that is thriving.
I never entertained the idea of school administration before my students challenged me to get involved in Government. I served as the President of my counties Economic Redevelopment Commission, while still teaching. I started to see the connections and intersections among the pressures of national and local demographic change, school quality, enrollment decline, and the role of schools as a community anchor. My conclusion was that schools and communities that innovate and prepare for changing trends will be uniquely suited to survive and thrive in the communities of the future.
It is with that thought that I pursued the shift from the classroom to school administration. As much as I miss the classroom, I am passionate and enthusiastic about building the school of the 21st century. A school that is an engine of community innovation. A school that provides authentic learning opportunities to prepare students for their future. A school that creates local community partnerships that build connections and networks that students can use after graduation. A school that challenges our teachers and students to innovate and strive for their best.

Mission
Empowering Students
My Mission is to collaborate with school stakeholders to create a collaborative learning community that blends innovative teaching practices, community partnerships, and an engaging student experience to create a school that facilitates students to authentically participate in their education in meaningful and hands-on way.

Scouting America
Scouting has been a lifelong passion. I achieved the rank of Eagle as a youth. I was honored by my peers with election into the Order of the Arrow for my service and leadership.
As an adult, I served as Cubmaster for 10 years and then Scoutmaster of my local troop. Both my son and daughter are active Scouts. As a family we pioneered the development of a new co-ed family Scout Unit. Upon moving to Vermont, I started a new Pack and Troop in an area that has not been served by one for many years. We are now serving over two dozen youth.
I have designed and deployed multiple community events that bring Scouting and youth development to the broader Community.

I served as a member, and then President of my Indiana Counties Economic Redevelopment Commission.
As a result, I became very aware of the complex interplay between the strength and success of locals school and the strength of the local economy. My rural community was facing demographic decline, lack of attainably priced homes, and declining economic opportunity. This mirrored the decline in student enrollment facing our schools.
I developed a public policy proposal that innovated a solution to demographic change and school enrollment while stimulating the local economy and building on circular growth and investment.
